Joaquim Almeria was born in Pamplona, Spain in 1970. He began his Martial Arts career with Judo and Jujitsu at the age of (6). At the age of (18), Joaquim was an instructor and already achieved the rank of Black Belt in several Martial Arts, including Kickboxing, Taekwondo, Full Contact Savate and Muay Thai. Between 1989 and 1992 he won numerous national and international titles as champion in disciplines like Olympic Taekwondo (WTF), Savate and Muay Thai. While Joaquim was competing professionally in Europe, he began the study of Dramatic Arts. He took acting and voice classes at the Theater Institute of Barcelona. His voice teacher was a famous tenor in Spain. During summers, Joaquim traveled to the USA to study Martial Arts from the finest instructors’ in America. He is proud to have studied with Dan Inosanto, George Dillman, Reylson Gracie, The Machado Brothers, Ron Balicki etc.. During his involvement with dance and fitness, Joaquim became an aerobics instructor and personal trainer certified by A.C.E. (American Council on Exercise). Joaquim began to be keen on the USA and its culture during his visits every summer. He studied with Dan Inosanto at I.A.M.A. in Los Angeles. Dan Inosanto is an advanced student and close, personal friend of the late Bruce Lee. Mr. Inosanto teaches the techniques of Bruce Lee. As a part of his Martial Arts training, Joaquim studied acupuncture, Chinese massage, herb therapy, and traditional Chinese medicine in general. After Joaquim's Dramatic art studies, he began working with many noteworthy "stars" in musicals and television productions. He was offered positions to choreograph fight scenes in movies and television in Spain. He continued his study of martial arts at the same time. He achieved a 3rd Tai degree Black Belt in Kickboxing, a 2nd degree Black Belt in Taekwondo, and Black Belts in Tai Chi Chuan/Qi Gong, Karate, Full Contact and Savate. In Europe, Joaquim is considered a martial arts expert; he regularly travels the world teaching seminars. His Martial Arts ambition led Joaquim to Japan, where he continued to polish his karate skills and complete his acupuncture certification. While in Japan, Joaquim learned the Japanese language, being able to read "kanjis". Because of the proficiency of language attained by Joaquim, he was able to teach Martial Arts and administer acupuncture treatments to the Japanese people. He was a Japanese champion in full contact bare-knuckle karate Sei Shin Kai style. He is one of the few Caucasians to ever teach in Japan and win that type of tournament. He also continued improving his dancing and acting while in Japan, working in several productions. After living in Japan for years, he was promoted to black belt in Karate Sei Shin Kai and Aikido. After that Joaquim moved to the USA. He was the lead adagio male in the highly acclaimed and "best show" Splash in Las Vegas. After he decided to quit his show business career, he moved to Los Angeles to study seriously under the guidance of Dan Inosanto. He became certified instructor under him in the art and science of Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do and the Filipino Martial Arts. He also had the privilege to teach Kickboxing and Savate at the Inosanto Academy. Joaquim was inducted in the U.S. Hall of Fame as Martial arts instructor of the year in 2000. Now he resides in Las Vegas where he teaches the JKD concepts and the Filipino Martial Arts from his own Academy. Because of his expertise in Oriental Medicine as an O.M.D. and his knowledge of the pressure points, Joaquim is now leading a revolutionary research to unite the art of Kyusho Jitsu with the JKD applications. Such work is sanctioned by the D.K.I.( Dillman Karate International), which Joaquim is a member in good standing, and done in coordination with Grand Master George Dillman, the leading authority of Kyusho Jitsu in the world. Joaquim is a direct student of Shihan Ed Lake DKI’s eight degree. Today Joaquim continues to study with Dan Inosanto and George Dillman. Joaquim travels worldwide teaching seminars and spreading Bruce Lee's message.
